There are two old sayings that spring to my mind when the topic of planning comes up. The first is "Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance" and the other is "Any fool can be uncomfortable."

A trip like this takes a lot of planning. At one end of the spectrum are the fundamental decisions such as where are we going, for how long and in what? At the other end is the detailed planning - for example what type of saucepans should we take...each and every facet of everyday life has to be looked out to see how we can do it on the road.

The links on the left will take you to the pages which describe how we sorted everything out for the trip. When we were researching this trip we found other people's websites to be an invaluable source of information - whatever we wanted to know about, the chances were that someone, somewhere knew the answer. We were inspired by what others had done, and picked up some really useful tips from their experiences (for example how to use a canoe bag as a washing machine). So, we hope that the following will be of interest/use to others who may be thinking about a similar kind of trip (Adam L - Cape to Cairo 2007??). If you see anything that you want to know more about, or think that there's something that we've missed out, leave us a message and we'll try and get back to you.
