Thursday, 30th June 2005. Dover to Dunkerque It was raining when we left England on a ferry bound for Dunkerque. The crossing was smooth and only took a couple of hours. Amy drove off the boat and into France whilst "Bat out of Hell" was playing on the stereo. We arrived at our campsite "Chateau du Gandspette" at around 17:00, set up camp and opened the bottle of Champagne that Mark's brother Adam had given us - we'd started!
Amy looking fairly cold on the ferry crossing. The view from our tent in Normandy. Friday, 1st July 2005 Eperlecques Glorious sunshine shone down on us as we awoke in France. we had a lazy day in the ground of the campsite, walked into the village to buy some cigarettes (very cheap), bread, croissants and 5 litres of unleaded petrol for the camping stove. In the afternoon we decided to wonder down to the WW2 V2 rocket launch site just down the road from our campsite. It was an immense concrete bunker which was quite eerie, especially as we had the place to ourselves. That evening it started to rain so we consoled ourselves with a bottle of wine and a few too many Gin and Tonic's... Sorry no pictures taken today. Saturday, 2nd July 2005. Eperlecques to Pommeuse Pommeuse was our destination today and after a 296kn drive through the lovely countryside, and with only 1 stop we made it along the 'Green' roads and arrived at our campsite/building site at around 5pm. tomorrow we are off to Disney World. Sunday, 3rd July 2005. pommeuse and Disney Happy birthday Dad... We drove to Disney in the blazing sunshine, and managed to go on all the good rides before lunch time, unfortunately both Mark and myself became increasingly bored and we decided to call it a day at 16:30 after the Disney parade. It was an enjoyable day, but I must say we won't be going back.
Monday, 4th July 2005. Pommeuse to Kaysersberg Today we had another driving day from pommeuse to Kaysersberg just north of Colmar and about 30 minutes drive to the Germany border. We arrive in god time and spent the first day just relaxing in the tent in the rain... Tuesday, 5th July 2005. Kaysersberg We walked into Kaysersberg as it was a lovely sunny day. we walked around the town - very pretty and the setting was gorgeous, vine yards in the background and a river running through the middle. The houses were all manner of colours ranging from the brightest orange to the lightest Blue, all very nice. Next stop Germany.
